Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG : Success of pilot project with electric cars

Region Hamburg's model electric mobility project has been completed, and hence also the first deployment of electric cars at HHLA's Container Terminals Altenwerder and Burchardkai. Renault pre-production vehicles of type Kangoo Z.E. (Zero Emission) were in use there on supervision and security duties from the end of May 2011. They have covered more than 6,000 low-noise kilometres free of emissions. "The electric cars have proved themselves in daily use," concluded Jan Hendrik Pietsch, HHLA's sustainability delegate. "Both for range and performance, but also for handling and power consumption, these vehicles have proved real alternatives to those with traditional propulsion." So HHLA is positive on the subject of using additional electric vehicles in the group.
