DANBURY, Conn. (AP) _ FuelCell Energy Inc. (FCEL) on Thursday reported a loss of $18.9 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Danbury, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 8 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 7 cents per share.

The fuel cell power plant maker posted revenue of $17 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $89.1 million, or 42 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $70.9 million.

FuelCell Energy shares have climbed 50% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased fivefold in the last 12 months.
