Recently, I've been using the Sonik SKS Black Shore rod. I have found this rod to be a very reliable and versatile piece of kit when I go fishing. I do carry other rods, but this rod comes with me everywhere. Even if I do take my other rods, it has the capability of a swift cast through its stiff tip. But don't be fooled, it also has the bite detection to feel any action. This rod can also come for multiplier or fixed spool, making it a nice easy rod for anyone no matter experience or preference.

The rod comes in 12, 13 and 14Ft. Personally, I have been using the 14ft version. The only reason for this is down to preference on my cast. I like the longer rod. Since I have had the chance to get out with it I have reeled in a 4.2 Pound Cod, where it reeled it in a dream. It also had a nice bend in the tip and the smooth alloy rings means that your line will never get damaged by the SKS Black.

The rod seat has a nice smooth action when setting your required height for your reel. My reel of preference is a multiplier and this makes setting the height a dream and also keeps a firm grip, as proved when getting snagged (it happens to all, sadly) and it holds its ground during the difficult times.

The Shrink wrap handles make for the perfect amount of grip when wanting that extra yard, and when mixed in with the smooth alloy rings that follow the rod to the tip and the nice smooth action in the tip you get the flawless cast.

The tip is styled in a way that is easily visible with a head torch during the evening and is also styled so it is more than visible in slightly low lighting conditions.

My only flaw with any of the kit is the 2-piece cloth bag with Velcro closure. It makes for a fiddle when putting the rod away and due to this wastes a little time and can get caught on the rings. This is due to it not being a very sturdy bag. Luckily the rod itself has the alloy rings which are robust and very strong so it would take more than the bag to damage but it doesn't feel very healthy.

Also, I would like to mention the price which ranges from just £69.99 up to £89.99. This is a very affordable beach casting rod and feel that this puts it in amazing place from competitors.

In a conclusion this a great fish anywhere rod, and there is a size and preference for everyone. With it being for either real definitely puts it in a fighting corner and with the price alongside this rod is something I will always take with me.

I give this product a 4.5 out of 5, the 0.5 being down the bag but the rod up to now has been flawless and a great piece of kit to use.
