BGE has been closely monitoring the weather and preparing for heavy rain and sustained winds forecast to impact Maryland this Tuesday, Jan. 9, into Wednesday, Jan. 10. We have proactively scheduled 100 additional contractor crews to ensure we have extra resources available for the duration of the predicted weather.

BGE is prepared to respond to any potential service interruptions that may be caused by the storm. Customers are also encouraged to prepare ahead of time, and to report outages if they occur. The safety of our customers and our employees is always our top priority.

How customers can report outages

Storm conditions could cause outages by knocking down tree limbs onto power lines and other electric delivery equipment. BGE asks all customers to report their outage in any of the following ways:

* Online, at BGE.com

* BGE's free mobile app, available at the Apple Store or Google Play

* Text message, to 69243

* Phone, by calling 877-778-2222

These reporting services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To sign up for email and text notifications, visit BGE.com/alerts.

The latest outage information, including total number and general locations, is available on the BGE.com outage map.

Restoration priorities

BGE's restoration priorities are public safety and other essential services such as 911 centers, hospitals, and pumping stations. Then restoration is generally scheduled so that the greatest number of customers can be restored as quickly and safely as possible. However, in cases of extended power outages, consideration is also given to customers who have been without service for the longest.

Downed wires: safety reminder

As a reminder, fallen overhead power lines should never be approached or touched even if the lines do not appear to be live or sparking. Call BGE at 1-877-778-2222 to report fallen electrical lines, power outages, and gas odors.
