The National Markets and Competition Commission said Wednesday that it is investigating energy company Endesa for possible abuse of dominant position in the electricity distribution market.

The CNMC said it has received several complaints against the company alleging that it discriminates against its competitors by favoring its own subsidiaries in situations that include the installation of equipment, as well as rooftop and other systems.

In June last year, the authority investigated two installations of the group, according to the CNMC.

An Endesa spokesman said the company has provided the authority with all the information requested. Endesa will continue to cooperate with the CNMC in everything it requests, the spokesman added.

The company "has acted at all times in compliance with the legislation and scrupulously respecting the principle of neutrality that governs the operation of electricity distributors in their dealings with the different marketers existing in the market, which guarantees that no favored treatment is given to any agent," he said.

Last month, the CNMC said it had opened an investigation into rival Naturgy, also in relation to possible anti-competitive practices in the electricity market.
