Coronado Global Resources Inc. announced that Gerry Spindler will retire from his role as Chief Executive Officer after the Company's Annual General Meeting to be held on or about 25 May 2023. Douglas Thompson will become Chief Executive Officer in accordance with Coronado's planned succession process, with Mr. Spindler to be appointed to the position of Executive Chair of the Board. Mr. Thompson has been the Company's Chief Operating Officer, Australia, since September 2021 and has more than 25 years' experience in the mining industry, including as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Thiess, an affiliate of the CIMIC Group.

Mr. Thompson will establish an office in the US and will work between the US and Australia. Group Chief Financial Officer Gerhard Ziems will assume an expanded role post the Annual General Meeting, taking responsibility for all sales and marketing as well as strategic investment activity. Mr. Ziems intends to split his time between the US and Australia.

William Koeck will remain on Coronado's board of directors as Deputy Chair and Lead Independent Director. Douglas Thompson has served as the Chief Operating Officer, Australia, of Coronado Global Resources since September 2021. Mr. Thompson has more than 25 years' experience in the mining industry, including as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Thiess, an affiliate of the CIMIC Group, an engineering-led global mining services company, from October 2017 to July 2021.

Prior to his role of MD and CEO, Mr. Thompson held leadership positions within the CIMIC Group of companies, including CPB Contractor, Sedgman and Thiess. Prior to joining the CIMIC Group, Mr. Thompson held senior roles with Gold Fields Limited, a gold mining company, headquartered in South Africa. Mr. Thompson holds a National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Engineering Mining from the University of Witwatersrand and has completed an International Executive Development Program with the University of Cambridge Business School; University of Witwatersrand.

Mr. Thompson is also a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia and AusIMM.
