Continental Reinsurance Plc announced earnings results for the half year ended June 30, 2013. For the period, the company reported Gross Premium Income (GPI) at NGN 7.9 billion, higher than last year's of NGN 6.9 billion representing 14% growth. Underwriting Profit increased moderately by 4% from NGN 1.06 billion in 2012 to NGN 1.1 billion in 2013, spurred by lower acquisition costs and the improved claims ratio.

Profit before tax was NGN 1.4 billion is moderately higher than that for 2012 of NGN 1.3 billion. Return on Equity at 8% remained the same in both 2013 and 2012 in the face of adverse market dynamics.
