FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Commerzbank shareholders will set the course for a change at the top of the Supervisory Board at this Wednesday's Annual General Meeting (10:00 a.m.): former Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann is to become the new chairman of the supervisory body, as the Frankfurt-based financial institution, which has since returned to the Dax, announced back in November.

Before that, however, the shareholders of the institution, which has been partially nationalized since the 2008/2009 financial crisis, must elect Weidmann to the Supervisory Board. After the Annual General Meeting, which will once again be held online, Weidmann is then to be elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board as successor to Helmut Gottschalk.

Weidmann would be the fourth head of the Commerzbank Supervisory Board in three years. Incumbent Gottschalk has only been in office since April 2021 and has decided not to run again for reasons of age. Weidmann resigned as Bundesbank president on December 31, 2021, after a good ten years in office./ben/DP/jha
