The Capital City Bank Group Foundation has awarded a Tipping Points grant in the amount of $25,000 to the We Care Food Pantry, an organization that is working tirelessly to solve the problem of widespread hunger currently affecting CitrusCounty. The grant will help fund the construction of a 15,000 square-foot emergency food distribution center, which will better enable We Care Food Pantry to meet this considerable need.

We Care Food Pantry serves approximately 2,600 clients each month and supplies food to more than 31 other hunger-fighting organizations in the area. With the nearest food bank an hour and a half's drive away in any direction, the new facility will provide a much-needed central location for organizing, storing and distributing food to the more than 22,000 CitrusCounty citizens who are living in poverty.

"At Capital City Bank, we are committed to enhancing our communities by serving the needs of its citizens," said Kay Wilkes, Capital City Bank president of CitrusCounty. "Over the years, the Foundation has supported a variety of local organizations and initiatives including the Citrus County Community Pharmacy in 2008. Like the Pharmacy, the Food Pantry will make a substantial difference in the quality of life in CitrusCounty and we are proud to support so worthy a cause."

Established in 2007, the Capital City Bank Group Foundation Tipping Points grant program awards one $50,000 gift or two $25,000 gifts annually to organizations whose projects will make a significant difference in the communities that Capital City Bank serves. These one-time gifts, presented in addition to the $275,000+ awarded during the Foundation's annual spring and fall funding cycles, are intended to provide the boost an organization needs to get off the ground or close the gap on what seems like an unattainable goal.
