BCL held its 2023 Annual General Meeting today in Port Moresby. The meeting included a moment's silence to pay tribute to our deeply-respected former director and PNG prime minister Sir Rabbie Namaliu who sadly passed away on 31 March.

Our chairman Sir Melchior Togolo also told the meeting that for the first time in its 55-year history, BCL was set to become a majority- owned Bougainvillean company with the PNG national government set to transfer its 36.4 per cent stake in BCL to the ABG and people of Bougainville which will bring the Bougainvillean shareholding to 72.8 per cent once finalised.

Sir Mel said BCL's strong Bougainvillean identity was something the company proudly embraced and promoted. He said given the company's truly local identity, the established presence it has in Bougainville and the extensive project knowledge it possesses regarding the Panguna mine, the company would continue to promote BCL as the logical development partner for this critical project in the year ahead.
