Barclays : appoints Tobias Åkermark as Head of Nordic Banking and Country CEO Sweden

Barclays today announces the appointment of Tobias Åkermark as Head of Nordic Banking. He will also take on the role of Country CEO for Sweden, subject to regulatory approval.
Tobias joins Barclays with 20 years' experience in investment banking, most recently as a Managing Director covering the Nordic region at Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2007, Tobias worked for ABG Sundal Collier, JP Morgan and Lazard.
Tobias joins in December and will be based in Sweden, reporting to Reid Marsh, in his capacity as Acting Head of European Banking, and Francesco Ceccato, CEO of Barclays Europe. Andy Verdin who has led the Nordic franchise for Barclays since 2006 will take on the role of Vice Chairman for Nordic Banking when Tobias joins the team later in the year.

Francesco Ceccato, CEO, Barclays Europe, commented: 'Tobias has all the right attributes and experience to lead our Swedish franchise and support the growth of Barclays Europe.'
