BAE Systems announces that it has been awarded a $418 million contract to produce M109A7 self-propelled howitzers and associated M992A3 ammunition carriers for the US Army.

The contract extends the vehicle delivery period to 2025.

The M109A7 is the latest howitzer in the BAE Systems M109 family of vehicles, and the primary indirect fire support system for the Army's Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCT).

BAE Systems specifies that the new M109A7 includes a new chassis, engine, transmission, suspension, steering system, high-voltage architecture and improved survivability.

As a reminder, the initial M109A7 production contract dates back to 2017, and this latest order brings the total contract value to $2.5 billion.
