Global aircraft leasing giant Avolon announced on Tuesday that it had signed a firm order with Airbus for 100 A321neo aircraft, worth $12.95 billion (€12.02 billion) at list price.

The Irish company, owned by China's Bohai Leasing , brings its total order for the model to 190, Airbus said in a statement.

Avolon has also ordered 40 737 MAX aircraft from Boeing, in a deal worth around $4.9 billion, according to Bohai Leasing.

The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery by 2032, and will expand Avolon's fleet size to 1,037 aircraft.

Avolon also purchased 20 Airbus A330neos in September and 40 Boeing 737 MAXs in June. Leasing companies control more than half the world's aircraft fleet.

"Today's orders strengthen our supply chain and reflect our confidence in the long-term prospects of aviation," said Andy Cronin, Avolon's Chief Executive Officer, in a statement.
