Paris-Orly Aéroports de Paris inaugurates new airport esplanades and lays the foundation stone of the Askia office building in Coeur d'Orly Redevelopment of the south and west terminal approaches marks the first phase of the Nouvel Envol modernisation plan

Augustin de Romanet, Chairman & CEO of Aéroports de Paris, today inaugurated Paris-Orly Airport's new kerbsides. The redevelopment of the south and west terminal esplanades and approaches is the first major phase of the airport's modernisation and redevelopment project, Nouvel Envol. Between
2015 and 2018, a connecting building will be constructed to connect the two terminals, providing passengers with more space and greater comfort.
A year and a half was needed to redevelop the outside areas and car park access. The movement and direction of vehicle and passenger flows have been simplified, making them more practical and ensuring a better balance between roads and pedestrian areas. The previously dissimilar approaches to both terminals have now been harmonised.

A wider south terminal esplanade and new west terminal drop-off area

A new, more spacious esplanade planted with trees has been created at the south terminal, with street furniture and wider pavements (17 metres compared to the previous 6 metres). Traffic in front of the terminal is now restricted to the dropping off of passengers by professionals (taxis, shuttles, etc.). Public roads have been pushed back beyond the terminal forecourt.
Professional vehicles (taxis, shuttles) still have direct access to the terminal, with parking spaces in contact with the terminal and a PRO car park with 6 dedicated bus spaces. The redesigned passenger drop-off area comprises 70 parking spaces, and parking there is free for up to 10 minutes. The three levels of car park P1, and car park P3 Red, are now linked to the terminal's departures level by four new large-capacity lifts. This is to facilitate passenger movement.
The west terminal viaduct and access roads have been redeveloped. The creation of a median strip and a new, landscaped pedestrian forecourt in front of the terminal has opened up a more spacious pedestrian area. Public and professional flows on the departures level are now clearly separated, with a dedicated taxi lane alongside the terminal. A new drop-off area with space for 37 cars has been created, and parking there is also free for up to 10 minutes. The PRO car park located on the arrivals level has space for over 50 buses and shuttles.

• Launching the first phase of the Coeur d'Orly business district: the construction of the Askia office building

Augustin de Romanet, Chairman & CEO of Aéroports de Paris, together with Christophe Kullmann, CEO of Foncière des Régions and Alain Taravella, founding CEO of Altarea Cogedim, laid the foundation stone of the Askia office building in the Coeur d'Orly eco-friendly business district, in the immediate vicinity of the airport terminals.

Askia was designed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. This
19,500 sqm development (18,500 sqm of offices and 1,000 sqm of ground-floor shops) marks the start of a vast urban development programme in the heart of the southern Ile-de-France region's leading economic hub. This is one of the Greater Paris projects.
Construction work began in October 2013 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2015.
Cœur d'Orly is just 10 minutes from Paris; it is linked to the Paris-Orly Airport terminals and has many motorway connections. The future district is well served by public transport (Orlyval-RER B, Tramway T7, bus, etc.) and this is set to be bolstered over the coming years (reopening of Route Nationale 7, introduction of reserved lanes for public transport, Grand Paris Express metro TGV, etc.).

The first real-estate phase: 160,000 sqm

The first phase of Cœur d'Orly covers 13.5-hectares and will create 160,000 sqm of buildings, including 70,000 sqm of offices (spread over three buildings), 41,000 sqm of shops, and a 35,000 sqm hotel complex.
Aéroports de Paris is the overall project planner and a co-investor (50%) in the office and retail space project. The Altarea Cogedim/Foncière des Régions joint venture has equal ownership of the other half. Altarea Cogedim and Foncière des Régions are also equal, joint property developers for the project.
The three partners have concluded a 9-year rental agreement with a major client for 50% of the surface area in the Askia office building. Other office buildings in the future business district will be started gradually, at the pace of the pre-letting phase.
