MADRID, May 23 (Reuters) - Spanish construction and energy conglomerate Acciona said on Thursday that its core earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation will grow less than previously expected this year based on current forecast energy prices.

The company said energy prices in its Spanish home market "behaved atypically" due to high renewable production, in particular hydroelectric, while demand was affected by mild temperatures.

Acciona also blamed lower-than-expected production so far this year for the reduced expectations.

The firm said in February it targeted double-digit growth in core earnings this year. It did not elaborate on the new outlook beyond saying that it was below February's.

Wind turbine maker Nordex, in which Acciona owns a 47.1% stake, had a strong start to the year, with revenue up 29% from a year earlier and orders more than doubling, Acciona said. Nordex maintained its target of an EBITDA margin of between 2% and 4% for the year as a whole.

Acciona group said it will announce an agreement in the coming months to sell "a first package of renewable energy assets" that comprises wind assets in Spain. (Reporting by Pietro Lombardi and Corina Pons in Madrid Editing by Chris Reese and Matthew Lewis)
