Pierre Nanterme has assumed the role of chief executive officer of Accenture, effective today. Accenture announced in October that Mr. Nanterme would become chief executive officer on Jan. 1, succeeding William D. Green. Mr. Green, who has been CEO since September 2004 and assumed the additional role of chairman in September 2006, will remain as chairman.

?I am extremely pleased to take on the role of chief executive officer,? said Nanterme. ?We have great momentum in our business and our focus is on accelerating the execution of our growth agenda to make sure we are capturing the opportunities we see in the marketplace.?

Mr. Green will continue as chairman of the board of directors. He will continue to play a very active role with Accenture clients around the world, represent Accenture with business and government leaders, and champion Accenture's Skills to Succeed corporate citizenship efforts.

Mr. Nanterme, 51, served most recently as group chief executive of Accenture's global Financial Services operating group, a position he has held since 2007. During his 28 years with Accenture, he has held a wide variety of leadership positions across many dimensions of the company's business. In 2006, he joined the global leadership team where he directly contributed to the planning and execution of Accenture's successful long-term business strategy. He has also served as chief leadership officer, with responsibility for the company's human capital strategy and for the design and implementation of Accenture's global operating model.

Mr. Nanterme joined Accenture in 1983 and became a partner in 1993. He graduated from ESSEC (Ecole Superieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) Business School in Paris.
