The US trade deficit widened slightly to $75.1 billion in May, compared with the previous month's $74.5 billion (which was barely revised from an initial estimate of $74.6 billion), according to the Commerce Department.

This 0.8% month-on-month increase in the deficit was the result of a 0.3% decline in US imports of goods and services, to $336.7 billion, less than the 0.7% drop in exports, to $261.7 billion.
