The DeFi blockchain: Avalanche is an open source software allowing the development of decentralized applications with a strong trend towards decentralized finance (DeFi). It allows the creation of many sub-networks allowing developers to deploy their own extension environments. The protocol allows to decentralize all the activities deployed on its software while ensuring quasi-instantaneous transactions. The ecosystem developed by Emin Gun Sirera, associate professor of computer science at Cornell University, and his team at Ava Labs aims to become the internet of finance by single-handedly addressing the full spectrum of blockchain and smart contract needs.

Features

The software has its own token: AVAX. The crypto allows, as in many cases, to pay for transactions on the network. The software works thanks to the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus. Avalanche is composed of many blockchains and validators that thanks to the Snow protocols (families of protocols) allow to ensure the transactions on the network. These transactions are confirmed on the network in less than a second, which allows Dapps (decentralized applications) to have an extremely fast processing speed.
