Ursula Gather

Ursula Gather is currently the Chairman of the Trustees Board at Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung, an Independent Member of the Supervisory Board at Münchener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG, and a Member of the Supervisory Board at thyssenkrupp AG.
She is also a Member of the Supervisory Board at thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel GmbH and thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg GmbH.
In addition, Dr. Gather is the Vice President of Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina eV starting in 2023.
She is a Member of the Executive Board at Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften eV since 2014 and a Member at Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (London) since 2016.
Dr. Gather serves as a Trustee at Oberwolfach Foundation since 2005.
Previously, Dr. Gather held positions such as Vice Chairman of the Senate at Deutsches.
Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.
from 2007 to 2012 and Chairman of the Mathematics Review Board at Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft from 2008 to 2012.
She was also the Chairman of TEMA Technologie Marketing AG and the Chairman of Landesrektorenkonferenz der Universitaeten in NRW from 2010 to 2015.
Gather worked as a Professor at the University of Iowa in 1985 and as an Assistant in Statistics & Business Mathematics at RWTH Aachen University from 1976 to 1985.
She served as the Rector of the University of Dortmund from 1986 to 2020.
Gather was a Member of the Supervisory Board at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH from 1996 to 2002 and at TechnologieZentrumDortmund GmbH from 2015 to 2020.
She was also a Member of the Executive Board at Deutschen Statistischen Gesellschaft in 2008.
Gather obtained her undergraduate degree in 1976 and her doctorate degree in 1979 from RWTH Aachen University.
