Profile

Steve Cheng is a GIP Credit Partner having joined GIP in 2012 to co-found GIP’s Credit business.
He focuses on the energy and renewables sectors and is based in New York.
Mr. Cheng is a member of GIP Credit’s Investment Committee, Operating Committee and Valuation Committee and serves on the boards of BrightNight LLC and BrightNight U.S.
LLC.
Prior to joining GIP, Mr. Cheng spent 20 years at Credit Suisse, most recently as a Managing Director in the Global Energy Group within the Investment Banking Department, focused on the origination and execution of transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Cheng also served as Co-Head of the Global Project Finance Group which focused on project, structured and infrastructure finance transactions across a wide range of industries including power, renewables, oil & gas, waste, water, mining and minerals, transportation, industrials and telecommunications.
Mr. Cheng holds an M.B.A.
with a concentration in Finance from the Columbia Graduate School of Business and a B.S.
in Electrical Engineering from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science.
