Yaskawa Electric Corp. will begin Chinese marketing of high-voltage power conditioners for large-scale solar power systems in fiscal 2012. The power conditioner is a key component of a solar power system, serving the role of a DC-AC converter to supply electricity from the solar panels in a form that can be used in buildings and factories. Yaskawa Electric now sells power conditioners carrying ratings of up to 600 volts in Japan. But for China, it will commercialize conditioners rated up to 800 volts, offering a lineup with outputs of 10-100kw. The company will redesign the conditioners to meet local specifications. But prices are expected to be at around the same levels as in Japan, where they range from JPY 1.5 million (USD 19,282) to JPY 15 million. will target the Chinese market for factory solar power systems and mega solar plants.
