-Partnership underscores Discovery's ongoing commitment as a proud employer and member of the Tennessee business community-

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee [July 10, 2019 - For Immediate Release] Discovery, Inc. today announced an initiative to provide job skills training through a new partnership with Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the company's National Operations Headquarters is located. In a joint news conference with the college and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Discovery detailed plans to help develop a better-trained technical workforce ready for 21st century jobs in Tennessee.

The initiative is part of Discovery's new 'RISE: Reducing Inequality and Supporting Empowerment' program, addressing education and social mobility. Focused on better preparing college students with the necessary skills to take advantage of available job opportunities, the pact with Pellissippi State will include internships, resume development, a speaker series, and other programs designed to prepare students with marketable job skills.

'This partnership is a prime example of private industry and public institutions collaborating to make our state an even better place to live and work,' said Tennessee Governor Bill Lee. 'Ensuring Tennesseans have the skills and resources they need to obtain quality jobs and compete in the 21st century workforce is one of my top priorities, and I appreciate the support of these two outstanding organizations.'

Specifically, Discovery has committed to provide Pellissippi students with paid internship opportunities in focus areas such as information technology, digital production, software development, cyber defense, data analytics, graphic and motion design, and more. The company will participate in professional and career development workshops for students, which may include resume building, job search advice, and mock interviews.

It also will offer guest lecturers, professional panels, and learning modules designed to enhance skills development and career advancement. Sessions will be videotaped and made available for distribution online, giving students across the state, including rural communities, access to this valuable training.

'Operating world-class brands and businesses in dozens of locations around the world, we understand the importance of developing workforce talent as a key to success, to boosting economies, and to improving the communities where we live and work,' said David Leavy, Discovery's chief corporate operating officer. 'As a purpose-driven company, we are proud to partner with an institution like Pellissippi State, with its long history of technical excellence, to target the critical training needed both in coursework and in launching meaningful careers. This commitment to today's student is an investment in tomorrow's business.'

'Pellissippi State is fortunate to have Discovery in our community,' said L. Anthony Wise Jr., president of Pellissippi State. 'Our students have interned in all corners of the organization, gaining valuable real-life experience that will help them after graduation, and Pellissippi State looks forward to continuing to build on our relationship with Discovery through this agreement.'

Discovery's RISE program is powered by Save the Children, a global organization dedicated to helping children and families in the United States and around the world. Over its 100-year history, Save the Children has impacted the lives of one billion children. Through this partnership, Discovery will support education and access to basic human needs for more than 10,000 rural Tennessee students, as well as the 120+ jobs it helps create in local communities.

The Pellissippi State partnership will be a facet of the RISE program's Talent Unlimited project designed to help promote social mobility and allow underserved students to pursue opportunities within Discovery. To that end, Discovery will launch a series of career days, masterclasses, mentorships, internships and fixed-term roles within the company across more than 14 countries including the U.S., the UK, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Argentina and Greater China.
