Volkswagen AG is launching a toned-down version of the T-Roc concept that was launched at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. The model will be closely related to the new Audi Second Quarter sold in Europe. It will now be offered with an extra pair of doors, and the open-top layout is unlikely to fully make the transition from concept to production. AutoEvolution has reported that the vehicle will have removable roof panels similar to the Jeep Renegade. The vehicle will share its modular MQB platform with dozens of Volkswagen Group models, including the Q2, Audi's A3 and TT models, and Volkswagen's Golf and Atlas. The model is to be equipped with a turbocharged, 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine rated at 170bhp and 200 pound-feet of torque. A dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive will come as standard.
