STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - According to a media report, prices for electric cars in Germany have fallen since the state purchase premium was discontinued. While some manufacturers have taken over the government's share themselves, others have lowered prices, according to the trade journal "auto, motor und sport".

First Citroën lowered its prices, then Dacia almost halved the base price of its small car Spring. Shortly afterwards, VW lowered the list prices of various ID models by between 4760 and 7735 euros. The Chinese manufacturer BYD responded by reducing its list prices by up to 15 percent.

However, electric cars remain expensive: according to the trade journal, only three of the 99 electric car models currently on offer in Germany are below the 30,000 euro mark despite the price reductions. Another twelve models cost between 30,000 and 40,000 euros, according to "auto, motor und sport".

The ADAC therefore expects that many car buyers will continue to opt for cars with combustion engines in the future. "So far, there are hardly any really affordable electric cars," criticized Reinhard Kolke, head of the ADAC Technik Zentrum, according to the trade journal. Manufacturers therefore urgently need to bring more affordable electric vehicles onto the market to make e-mobility affordable for more people./sl/DP/jha
