HANNOVER (dpa-AFX) - Production at the Volkswagen plant in Emden in East Frisia has come to a standstill in the wake of the farmers' protests. "Production is at a standstill today," said a VW spokeswoman on Monday. The roads to the plant were blocked by the farmers' protests. It was therefore not possible for employees to get to work. The production of combustion models was affected. Production of electric cars is not scheduled to restart until next week after the Christmas vacations. It was not known exactly how many employees were affected by the shutdown. Production was due to resume on Tuesday. Several media outlets had previously reported this./len/DP/mis
