Pune, 25 October 2018 - Underlining its commitment to India, UBS today opened its second office in Pune. UBS's fourth office in India, at EON IT Park, a modern and agile workspace, will provide UBS businesses with support in the development of advanced technology and business processes.

'UBS is in India for the long-term and with headcount increasing by 211% between 2017 and 2019. This September we crossed the 3,000 employee mark,' said Harald Egger, UBS Country Head, India.

The new office complements the first facility in Pune which opened in 2015, and is the latest phase of an initiative which seeks to offer comprehensive around-the-clock coverage, globally. UBS has offices in Pune (Yerwada), Navi Mumbai (Airoli) and in the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

'The Indian talent pool is second-to-none in terms of quality and capabilities, which helps us further improve our processes by simplifying delivery and oversight,' added Egger.

'Following the opening of Airoli in Mumbai last year, this latest milestone is another step towards the fulfilment of our mission to ensure that UBS maintains its competitive edge in an increasingly digitalized world. We are very excited to build our capabilities in Pune,' said Mike Dargan, Global Head of Technology.

'Pune is one of the fastest-growing cities in India and is a global hub for education, technology and manufacturing,' said Uday Odedra, UBS Head of Technology, Asia Pacific. 'In line with Group Technology strategy, our objective is to attract and develop the best talent who will make a significant impact to Technology at UBS.'

UBS also announced the launch of its Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) program in India. The Optimus Foundation has funded a range of projects such as Educate Girls in Rajasthan, while volunteers for its Community Affairs outreach program work with a range of local charities. Combining the two is expected to amplify the amount of good that the firm is doing in India.

'We already engage with a range of local NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) through staff volunteering, mentoring and projects aimed at improving the well-being and education of children. And, by placing all UBS entities in India under a single CSR umbrella, we will achieve significant efficiencies. Our objective is to engage more than 40% of employees in annual volunteering by 2020,' said Egger.
