CHICO, Calif. (AP) _ TriCo Bancshares (TCBK) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $22.9 million.

The Chico, California-based bank said it had earnings of 75 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 74 cents per share.

The holding company for Tri Counties Bank posted revenue of $82.1 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $78.4 million, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $78.6 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $92.1 million, or $3 per share. Revenue was reported as $310.6 million.

TriCo shares have fallen slightly more than 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $37.38, a rise of 6.5% in the last 12 months.
