The name of Atif Bajwa has been approved for slot of the President of the Bank of Punjab after a meeting of the Punjab cabinet in the provincial capital on Tuesday.

Chaired by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the PTI's government in Punjab held its 23rd meeting to discuss a 19 point agenda, which included the appointment of president of the Bank of Punjab and upgrade of different posts on the recommendations of committee headed by the additional chief secretary.

It has been confirmed to Profit that Atif Bajwa, the former President, CEO and Executive Director at Bank Alfalah, was confirmed as the bank's new President. Other names in contention included Zafar Masud and Adnan Ghani.

Atif Bajwa is a veteran banker who has remained President and Chief Executive Officer of MCB Bank Ltd., President and Chief Executive Officer at Soneri Bank Ltd., Regional Head-Central and Eastern Europe at Citibank NA (Bangladesh), Manager at RBS Pakistan, Chairman for Pakistan Business Council and President of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry in addition to his last association, which was with Bank Alfalah.
