Thales announces that it has won a contract from Naval Group to test an autonomous passive hull sonar, as part of the project launched by the DGA to test an unmanned combat submarine demonstrator.
The omnidirectional passive hull sonar supplied by Thales will contribute to securing the autonomous navigation of an XL-UUV drone, in particular during 'sight recovery', enabling better knowledge of the surface environment.
"These technological and tactical capabilities should provide an operational response in the medium term for underwater warfare and new forms of naval combat", explains the defense electronics group.
