VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Telus Corp. (TU) on Friday reported third-quarter net income of $230.4 million.

On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 18 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 21 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 24 cents per share.

The telecommunications company posted revenue of $2.99 billion in the period, which beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.89 billion.

Telus shares have dropped roughly 9% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen nearly 1% in the last 12 months.
