Telecom Italia has announced the activation of fibre-optic services in the town of Osimo in the central region of Marche. The operator said it rolled out around 40 km of cables and connected 68 street cabinets to bring broadband at speeds of up to 100 Mbps to some 11,000 homes. Earlier this year, TIM announced that it expects to bring fibre-optic technology to 84% of Italian homes by the end of 2018 via an investment of around EUR 3.6 billion.
