Technology Minerals PLC said Tuesday that its battery-recycling business Recyclus Group Ltd. has been granted an environmental permit by the U.K.'s Environment Agency.

The battery-metals company, which owns 49% of Recyclus Group, said the permit is aimed at its lead-acid battery recycling plant in Tipton, England, for a hazardous-waste installation, primarily involved in the treatment and processing of lead-acid batteries.

"The granting of the EA permit is a crucial step forward and will enable Recyclus to proceed with obtaining the required sub-licenses to commence operations at the Tipton site," Chairman Robin Brundle said.

Shares at 0715 GMT were up 0.18 pence, or 5.4%, at 3.63 pence.
