Tata Steel Limited reported sales and production results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 2012. For the third quarter, the company's steel has shown a 9.07% quarter-on-quarter increase in sales of crude steel in the third quarter of the current financial year. In the second quarter, the company had sold 1.73 million tonne (mt) crude steel, which rose to 1.887 mt in the third quarter.

For the nine months, the company sold 5.203 mt steel against 4.864 mt it had sold last year during the same period.

For the third quarter, the company's production at 8.35 million tonne (mt) crude steel. It has been the best ever quarter for the company in terms of sale and production. The company's quarter-on-quarter production figure has been impressive, showing an increase of 9.95% in hot metal, 8.3% in crude steel and 10.70% in saleable steel output over the figures for second quarter of the current year. In actual terms, it produced 2.276 mt, 2.087 mt and 2.069 mt of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel compared with 2.07 mt, 1.927 mt, 1.869 mt respectively it produced in second quarter of 2012.

For the nine months, the company sold 5.203 mt steel against 4.864 mt it had sold last year during the same period. The steel major produced 6.400 million tonne (mt), 5.832 mt and 5.678 mt hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel during against 5.791 mt, 5.302 mt, 5.192 mt respectively it had produced during the same nine-month period of fiscal year 2012, registering growth of 10.52%, 10% and 9.36% in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel output.
