Singapore, 12 July 2016- Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), in partnership with the Singapore Red Cross Society, has collected 141 units of blood from 198 donors today at the SPH Red Apple Day, its biannual blood donation drive.

Mr Alan Chan, Chief Executive Officer of SPH, said: 'We are extremely grateful to all who have come forward to share the gift of life with those in need. SPH will continue to work with Singapore Red Cross to ensure that there is ample blood supply especially during festive periods. I would like to thank all the donors, volunteers and sponsors for their continuous support of this meaningful event.'

The event at the SPH News Centre auditorium attracted SPH staff, students of Beatty Secondary School and their parents as well as members of the public. It was made a biannual drive in 2011 to help encourage blood donations during festive periods when blood supplies are usually low.

The SPH Red Apple Day 2016 is supported by Activhealth, Benelux, Gardenia and Suntory. The event media partners are SPH MediaBoxOffice, SPH Digital and SPH Radio's three stations - ONE FM 91.3, Kiss92, UFM100.3.
