Power Machines OJSC and Directorate for Integrated Ordering of Equipment for NPPs OJSC have signed a contract to supply main power equipment to the machine hall of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

According to the contract terms, Power Machines are to produce and supply two complete turbine sets, including high-speed steam turbines each having a capacity of 1200 MW, capacitors and equipment of turbine auxiliary systems, as well as two complete 1200 MW turbogenerators with auxiliary systems equipment for the Belarusian NPP being under construction. Besides, Power Machines specialists are to carry out design and installation supervision works on the equipment supplied and to perform its warranty tests.

The contractual value amounts to over 750 million U.S. dollars. The commercial startup of the first power unit at the Belarusian NPP is scheduled for 2018 and that of the second one - for 2020.

The Belarusian NPP which consists of two power units each having a capacity of 1200 MW will be build in Grodno Region of the Republic of Belarus. It will be fitted out with equipment similar to that which is used during the implementation of the Russian NPP-2006 project. At present Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 and Leningradskaya NPP-2 are being built within the framework of the NPP-2006 project with a WWER-1200 reactor. The main power generating equipment for these plants is manufactured by Power Machines.

The Belarusian NPP project fully complies with international standards and recommendations of the IAEA and is distinguished by enhanced safety features and performance indicators. The main advantage of the project is a high degree of protection provided by the use of independent channels of active and passive safety systems.

Power Machines enterprises have been designing and producing high-tech equipment for nuclear power plants for more than 50 years. Today Power Machines OJSC is the only Russian company providing the complete delivery of main thermal and mechanical equipment of turbine island for nuclear power plants. 27 nuclear power plants in the world are fitted out with the equipment produced by Power Machines.
