Silgan Holdings Inc. announced earnings results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2020. For the year, the company announced sales was USD 4,921.9 million compared to USD 4,489.9 million a year ago. Net income was USD 308.7 million compared to USD 193.8 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.79 compared to USD 1.75 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.77 compared to USD 1.74 a year ago. For the quarter, sales was USD 1,226.6 million compared to USD 1,048.3 million a year ago. Net income was USD 60.1 million compared to USD 34.8 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.54 compared to USD 0.31 a year ago.

The metal containers segment is engaged in the manufacture and sale of steel and aluminum containers for pet and human food and general line products. The custom containers segment manufactures and sells custom designed plastic containers for pet and human food, consumer health and pharmaceutical, personal care, home care, lawn and garden and automotive products. Its products are used for a variety of end markets, and it operates over 107 manufacturing plants in North America, Europe, Asia and South America.
