Siemens today held the groundbreaking ceremony in Berlin for one of Europe's largest urban development projects.

Around 35,000 people will live and work in Siemensstadt Square, which will cover an area of around 188 acres (approx. 76 hectares) with over one million square meters of floor space.

The project will serve as a model for the efficient design of urban development projects on brownfield sites and industrial transformation sites around the world.

The digital technologies of the Siemens Xcelerator platform, ranging from an integral digital twin to artificial intelligence (AI), will make the district habitable and fit for the future," Siemens assures.
