SGS : Focus on Cotton

SGS has undertaken quantity control assessment on cotton worldwide for more than 70 years.

During this time, cotton textiles have increasingly been made in different locations to where the fiber is produced. Consequently, either local or imported fibers are being used in the production process.

An independent and neutral service provider is needed to oversee the complex requirements that farmers face in providing raw cotton through the trade to mills producing yarns.

SGS is employed by producers, traders and importers to represent them in assessing the raw material. We conduct independent sampling and quality testing, ensuring verification of weights, quality and damages.

As a proud member of various cotton and textile trade related associations in many countries around the world, we participate in numerous industry working groups and technical committees.

We provide cotton services to the entire supply chain, from farmers and cotton producers, to the textile industry and retail brands. Our operations across the whole cotton industry give us unique insight as well as being beneficial in helping to guarantee quality and profits.
