Supporting the country's thriving seed and crop industry, SGS's field trial operations in Romania have been awarded good experimental practices (GEP) certification by the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

SGS has been supporting the development of new farm inputs in Romania for many years. In 2016, we established field trial operations, opening a field station near Timisoara in 2017. Following successful inspection of the facility, its process and procedures by local authorities, we can now offer GEP certified field trial services.

The scope of our certification includes research and regulatory trials with:

  • Fungicides
  • Herbicides
  • Plant growth regulators
  • Insecticides

Led by our experienced field trials manager Alin Carabet, we are pleased to be able to bring GEP certified services to Timisoara, Romania. This region is important for cereal, barley, corn, oil seed rape, potato and wheat production.

Supported by SGS's global network of fields trials experts, we have extensive in-house expertise. We also work closely with the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine King Michael I from Timisoara, whose experienced scientists offer additional support with highly specialized questions.

SGS Field Trials Expertise

Regional registration packages can be arranged with our local project managers. In addition, our proprietary trial management platform 'MORE' allows clients to track trial progress during the season.

Across Europe, SGS has established more than 25 field stations and trial operations for contract research. With the replication of our services into Romania, we add a further key country in the south east region of the EU to our network. This is in addition to existing facilities in Bulgaria and Hungary.
