Playing a leading role in the sustainable banking sector, with reference to its establishment mission aimed at supporting the community development and production, Şekerbank was awarded 'Best Bank for Sustainable Development Turkey' and 'Best SME Bank Turkey' prizes at 'Global Banking and Finance Awards 2020', thanks to the activities carried out in this area

In 'Global Banking and Finance Awards 2020', as one of the most prestigious publications in the finance world which evaluates the world's top companies in numerous areas such as asset management, banking and insurance, Şekerbank won two major awards in 'Best Bank for Sustainable Development Turkey' and 'Best SME Bank Turkey' categories.

Şekerbank has been conducting many studies to raise awareness in our country on sustainable banking, which has been a common denominator of its activities for 67 years. The Bank focuses on financing environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive growth with its activities grouped under the headings of sustainable agriculture, financial inclusion and women's banking, domestic production and employment, energy efficiency and climate change.

Aybala Şimşek: 'Sustainable banking is in Şekerbank's DNA'

In her statement about the awards Şekerbank has received, Şekerbank's Executive Vice President Aybala Şimşek said: 'Our understanding of nature and people oriented banking, which we inherited from Anatolian farmers who are the founders of our bank, constitutes the essence of all our activities in the field of sustainable banking. The awareness of adding value to society and the environment, which is in Şekerbank's DNA, has become much more important with the pandemic process, and the international certification of the success of our activities in this field is a source of pride for all of us. '

Underlining that the Bank has also made digitalization investments to increase its sustainable banking competencies, Şimşek implied that they will share the works in this field step by step with the public in the coming period.
