SAP : A Global Agenda for Partnerships to Achieve the SDGs

As leaders of global society gather in Davos, Switzerland January 22 through 25 for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, prominent thought leaders from business, academia, government, and society will be asking how corporations, governments, institutions, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) can come together for transformative change and a new phase of global cooperation-Globalization 4.0.

The SAP Next-Gen program will be in Davos with Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) and Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) to share a global agenda for partnerships to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Partnerships for the Global Goals

'As the world's population grows and the threats from climate change become more pronounced, the need for sustainable development intensifies,' said Ian de Cruz, global director, P4G. 'No one country, company, or community has all the answers. That's why we need to foster partnerships among businesses, governments, and civil society to incubate and accelerate the best ideas for sustainable growth in developing nations.'

P4G has the ambition to bring together business, government, and civil society organizations in innovative public-private partnerships to advance solutions to the SDGs that help meet humanity's greatest needs in five key areas affecting urban centers: food and agriculture, water, energy, cities, and circular economy.

'HPI shares a joint commitment with SAP to leverage public-private partnerships to accelerate solutions to the UN Global Goals,' said Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel, institute director and CEO, Hasso Plattner Institute. 'By combining the power of digital technologies-including cybersecurity with the creativity of SAP Design Thinking-industry, academia, governments, and NGOs can come together to develop innovative solutions for social good and a sustainable future.'

Driving Inclusive Growth

'The launch in Davos of the agenda for partnerships to achieve the SDGs aims to rally leaders from business, government, academia, and NGOs to action for new partnerships that drive inclusive growth and accelerate solutions to the SDGs,' said Ann Rosenberg, senior vice president and global head of SAP Next-Gen.

'The Agenda for Partnerships to Achieve the SDGs' on January 22 at the Davos House will discuss how public-private partnerships can accelerate solutions to achieve the SDGs, with a focus on how smart cities can drive success in electric mobility and clean energy access. Leaders will be invited to join coalitions to coordinate partnership efforts in a systematic way and to prepare to share progress on system change during the UN General Assembly in September 2019.
