South Korean giant Samsung is holding its first Galaxy Unpacked of 2024 tonight at 7 p.m. (Belgian time).

During the event - which will be broadcast live on YouTube - Samsung will (logically) introduce its new smartphones, the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra.

So what can we expect? No revolution on the agenda, at least not for the S24 and S24 Plus. Both devices show many similarities to their predecessors, except for a few upgrades here and there. In particular, we're thinking about a latest-generation processor.

The S24 Ultra, on the other hand, is likely to be more of a surprise, or at least more of a thrill, with major improvements to its photo and video capabilities.

AI increasing presence

Artificial intelligence will feature prominently at the event. With the slogan "Galaxy AI is coming," Samsung leaves no doubt about it.

We can expect announcements similar to those made by Google for the Pixel 8. Namely, that AI is going to play a much bigger role in the user experience, especially when it comes to photo editing and optimization. We can also expect new AI features, including real-time translations in the messaging app.

One more thing? According to the many leaks about the event, the Galaxy S24 will likely be Samsung's only announcement. However, there could be good news for future owners: the phones are said to get 7 years of Android updates. Again, just like Google's Pixel 8.

You can watch the event live today on YouTube starting at 7 p.m.
