Aerospace and defense company Raytheon Technologies said it has changed its name to RTX.

The roughly 100-year-old company traces the origin of its former name to an amalgam of Old French and Greek that meant "light from the gods."

The company said in a securities filing that its common stock will continue to trade under its former name, which was Raytheon Technologies Corporation, through July 26. The company's stock ticker will remain RTX.
