Line-fit requirements met for Airbus A320 universal platforms and Boeing 737s

HAMBURG, Germany (Apr. 8, 2014) - Rockwell Collins today announced that its PAVES™ On-demand in-flight entertainment (IFE) system became the first seat-centric solution to achieve original equipment manufacturer (OEM) 'technical offerability' status for single-aisle aircraft. PAVES On-demand now complies with all line-fit requirements for Airbus A320 universal platforms and Boeing 737s.

"This significant accomplishment validates PAVES On-demand as a viable in-seat IFE option for single aisles, and one that delivers maximum reliability at an incredible value," said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager, Information Systems for Rockwell Collins. "The seat-centric architecture makes maintenance of the system easier and faster, which keeps passengers satisfied and airline operating costs down."

The system is equipped with a quick-release mechanism to simplify removal and replacement of in-seat displays.

PAVES On-demand has the unique ability to seamlessly integrate with Rockwell Collins' PAVES™ Broadcast overhead IFE system, providing airlines with the ability to configure cabins to meet their mission needs, such as in-seat IFE in first class and overhead IFE in economy. The airlines also have a high degree of flexibility to control the loading and unloading of their own digital content.

Sichuan Airlines is the launch customer for PAVES On-demand with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2015.
