Riber, a manufacturer of equipment for the semiconductor industry, announced on Thursday that it had secured an order for a research platform from a long-standing French customer.

The molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) specialist says it has sold a double 'Compact 21' system to the Institut d'électronique de microélectronique et de nanotechnologie (IEMN).

Equipped with a fleet of Riber machines since the mid-1980s, the IEMN will add this ultramodern machine to its existing lines for developing hetero- and nanostructures and researching new materials.

This acquisition is aimed at meeting the challenges of the next generation of wireless communication, 6G, with its objectives of ultra-high data rates, low latency and low energy consumption, adds Riber.

This new order will be delivered in 2025.

Riber shares were up 1.6% on Thursday on the Paris Bourse.
