"Throughout the course of my career, I've been fortunate to conduct research in a wide range of disciplines, including optics, image processing, machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, human visual perception and even art history. SPIE has a long history of providing a welcoming environment and resource for such work," said Dr. David G. Stork. "I'm honored to be recognized by SPIE and look forward to sharing future research on computational imaging through this important organization."

SPIE Fellows are members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement, for their service to the general optics community, and to SPIE in general. More than 950 SPIE members have become Fellows since the Society's inception in 1955.

Dr. Stork is a renowned expert in optics and the development of algorithms that enable novel sensing, imaging and image analysis techniques. He has published eight books or proceeding volumes on topics such as optics and pattern recognition. In 2011, Dr. Stork joined Rambus as part of Rambus Labs to lead the company's long-term research in new classes of imaging systems.

Dr. Stork will be recognized and receive a certificate at the Electronics Imaging conference to be held on January 22 - 26 in Burlingame, California. At the conference, Dr. Stork will teach a short course on new methods in computational imaging. In addition, Dr. Stork and colleagues will present a paper on computer vision.
