Now that the threat of another Nor'easter storm  has passed this week for most of Pennsylvania, PPL Electric Utilities and its sister utilities in Kentucky are sending 100 field workers and equipment eastward to assist in the power restoration effort. PPL contractors also agreed Thursday night (11/8) to release about 75 utility workers to help complete restoration activities in New Jersey.

The workers from Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities were released from duties in Pennsylvania on Thursday morning. The PPL Electric Utilities employees and contractors were released this morning. The contractors generally work full time for PPL Electric Utilities on infrastructure improvement projects.

"We were fortunate to receive significant assistance from utilities in other states to help restore service more quickly to our customers affected by Sandy," said Gregory Dudkin, president of PPL Electric Utilities. "We're pleased our dedicated employees and contractors are able to pitch in and do what we can for our neighboring utilities and their customers."

More than a half million PPL Electric Utilities customers were affected by the storm, most of them in the eastern portion of the utility's service area. It now ranks as the worst storm in the company's history.
