PostNL : Construction work begins on the PostNL parcel sorting centre in Almere

Liesbeth Kaashoek, Director of Parcels and Logistics at PostNL, says: 'This parcel sorting centre will soon obtain the Outstanding BREAAM certificate, which demonstrates that it is a sustainable building exerting minimal environmental impact. With this goal in mind, the measures being taken by PostNL include investment in the most sustainable materials, the installation of solar panels and waste heat recovery systems. The building is also gas-free. This makes it one of the most sustainable logistics buildings, which is something we are extremely proud of.'
Extended logistics network
In the last few months of 2018 PostNL will have three parcel sorting centres in use: a site recently opened in Apeldoorn and in the short term sites will open in Amsterdam and in Venlo.
Good for the region
This parcel sorting centre is good for the region: it provides jobs for around 400 people. It will be put into use in February 2019 and will serve as the base from which parcels will be delivered to the Almere, 't Gooi and Lelystad region.
