"POLA MUSEUM ANNEX EXHIBITION 2023"
Over Two Periods from February 10 (Friday)
POLA MUSEUM ANNEX (Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will hold its"POLA MUSEUM ANNEX 2023"over two periods between February 10 (Friday) and April 16 (Sunday), 2023.
Since 1996, the Pola Art Foundation has financially supported overseas training opportunities for young artists, with the aim of increasing specialization in the fields of Japanese art. This exhibition will present works by six artists selected from the trainees who have participated in the program over the past few years. The purpose of this annual event is to give many people the opportunity to enjoy the artistic fruits of the training program and to provide the young artists with valuable experience for their future artistic enterprises.
This 21st edition of the exhibition, again supervised by Pola Museum of Art Director Shunsuke Kijima, is entitled"Independence and Integration." It will be presented over two separate periods.

∥Supervisor profile ∥
Shunsuke Kijima: Director of the Pola Museum of Art. Born in 1939 in Tottori Prefecture. Graduated from the Keio University Faculty of Letters, majoring in Aesthetics and Science of Arts. He has studied at the University of Florence, the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science, and the New York University Institute of Fine Arts. He has served as director of The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma; director of the Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi; as professor at Kyoritsu Women's University, where he currently serves as professor emeritus, and as a "producer" at Tokyu Bunkamura, THE MUSEUM in Tokyo. His major publications include "The Beautiful Worlds of the Book of Hours " (Chuokoron-sha), "Contemporary American Artists 25" (Shueisha), "Women Who Changed Picasso" (Chuko Bunko), "Women Loved by Masterpieces: Stories of Painters and Models" (Shueisha), and "Klimt and Vienna " (Rikuyosha). He has also translated the three volumes of L'art décoratif en Europe.
∥Activities of Pola Art Foundation∥
Pola Art Foundation offers grants to young artists and art specialists in the field of fine arts. The Foundation invites applications for study theme proposals from the public, principally in the field of fine arts. Submissions are assessed by a screening committee made up of experts to select the projects that will receive financial support. Through this program, the Foundation aims to promote and develop Japanese culture. An outline of recent support activities is given below.
