How can we accelerate the UN goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) - a human right to health that more than half the world's 7 billion citizens currently fail to enjoy? Part of the answer lies in 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet-of-Things (IoT), which will revolutionize the way we experience healthcare. However, achieving fair and equitable UHC will also require responsible leadership, new business / finance models and strong legal frameworks, underpinned by primary care and high-quality service delivery.

In an upcoming High-Level Panel Discussion titled 'Creating enabling ecosystems for digital health', co-hosted by Philips and Devex and being held on Tuesday, September 24, during the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 74) in New York, Philips Chief Medical Officer Jan Kimpen and Philips Ultrasound Business Leader Bich Le will contribute Philips' practical experience of helping to implement UHC initiatives in underserved communities around the world.

As Jan Kimpen and Bich Le will explain during the panel discussion, Philips' involvement in digital health and telehealth projects goes beyond simply being a technology provider. Philips is committed to the co-creation of digital health innovations that make better use of the world's limited competences, skills, resources, financing and governance structures in order to facilitate uninterrupted access to quality healthcare in a rapidly changing and increasingly uncertain world.

Jan Kimpen will be joined in the panel discussion by leading social enterprise, World Health Organization, NGO, private foundation and Ministry of Health representatives from around the world.
